Isn’t that the truth! Me too. And up until this morning it was looking like Spring had arrived. Despite the snow that has fallen in London, Ontario again though, I have a feeling that spring is not far off. All the area sugar bushes are tapping their trees, as the sap is flowing. If you take a close look at a tree or two, you’ll notice that buds are there. They are just waiting for a few more warm days so that they can ‘POP’. And suddenly it will be Spring!
In the interim perhaps we should lighten up. A little levity might be just the thing to have us laughing our way into Spring. Just as a reminder, it officially arrives next week! Enjoy the tree humour!

It seems that every year, at least one my oak trees just doesn’t come back.
I know one of my little Japanese Maples was damaged by a heavy snow….don’t know if it can recover.
haha, mine too! Sorry to hear about your oak trees. Have you ever had an arborist take a look at them? They might be able to give you some suggestions on how to overwinter them better. Fingers crossed on your maple

Ken Lamb is an arborist and I have had to call him out here every Spring. He was able to save one of my biggest oak trees with an antibiotic. He said that there are a lot of unhealthy oak trees around here, because of droughts followed by overly wet seasons. My post “Wisdom of the Yawning Tree” will give you a good idea of the condition of some of my trees. I didn’t know there were bugs in the “yawning” tree, or that the tree was dying….until a pileated woodpecker brought it to my attention by making a huge hole. 🙂
