Business Integrity

Better Business Bureau logo.Today, the Better Business Bureau (BBB) spelled Integrity with their presentation of the 15th Annual Business Integrity Award. The award honours companies who demonstrate the best and highest ethical standards in their industry, as nominated by their peers and customers. It is a mark of esteem and warranted recognition that the 100-year-old BBB bestows upon businesses that always do their utmost best for everyone they touch, from customers, to employees, suppliers, manufacturers and even the community the business is found within.

For the last 15 years, the Better Business Bureau of Western Ontario has celebrated outstanding companies in Southwestern Ontario and today marked another such company being ushered into the hallowed ranks of these highly esteemed companies.

Congratulations to Assaad Eldik and his company Armour Shield Roofing on winning this year’s 2012 Business Integrity Award.

CLC Tree Services was in attendance at the awards ceremony this morning as well. They were there as more than just polite audience members though. They are Accredited members of the Better Business Bureau. Curt McCallum, the founder of CLC Tree Services, is also a Director for the BBB of Southwestern Ontario chapter. In addition to that, in 2010, CLC Tree Services was the proud recipient of this coveted award themselves. That equated to lots of reasons to take part in the celebrations!

So after sipping coffee and heaping a plate full of the Hilton’s best breakfast offerings, everyone sat down to take in the ceremony. Notables such as David Simpson, from the Richard Ivey School of Business, Rob Secco, the Chair of the BBB Board of Directors, Mark Malerba, the Chair of the Integrity Awards Committee and Sandi McCabe, a representative from the Rotary Club of London Foundation,  all had opportunities to speak about integrity and how it relates to people and business.

A few other special guests were also in attendance, as members of a panel that represented Integrity at its highest. They were none other than Peter Inch of Inch Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning, Paul Roberts of Runner’s Choice and CLC’s very own Calvin McCallum – all past recipients of Business Integrity Awards. They were asked to discuss how the award affected them and their companies since receiving this mark of recognition.

When it was Calvin’s turn, he remarked, “our staff is trained to understand what integrity is and what this award means to us.” He further noted that they encourage staff “to carry this into the field when talking with customers and any potential customers.” Because we all know that everyone could be a “potential” customer, until they sign on that proverbial dotted line. And Calvin further illustrated why his company was an award winner when he noted that “we treat customers right, do all the right things, make sure that the job goes well and that the customers are treated well”.

Enough said.

Whether people become repeat customers or not, treating others with the highest of integrity is the standard that all businesses should set themselves to, and that was made abundantly clear this morning. It is always an honour when others recognize that integrity. We at CLC Tree Services will constantly strive to meet the highest in integrity and hope that we always merit that award in business and in life. We hope that you do as well.
